Apple will increase the core count of M3 GPUs to 40
Apple’s new M3 processor family is expected to offer higher performance and energy efficiency. These processors will all be produced as 3 nm. This significant transition from 5 nm cores to 3 nm cores will allow the use of more cores and increase the performance and efficiency of each core.
The base version of the Apple M3 processor series will be produced with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, having the same CPU and GPU core count as the currently used top-tier M2 processor. M3 Pro and M3 Max processors will have a much more capable and innovative structure. M3 Pro will contain 12 CPU cores and 18 GPU cores, while M3 Max will be the most efficient processor ever produced, with a 14-core CPU and 40-core GPU.

The first Macs with M3 processors will be the 13-inch MacBook Air and the new 24-inch iMac. The 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will be reconfigured to use the M3 processor in the first or second quarter of 2024.
