Thanks to a new feature from WhatsApp parent company Meta, we can now say goodbye to the hassle of dealing with spam messages. The feature will allow users to block annoying texts directly from their lock screen.
WhatsApp scam messages can now be blocked directly from the notification
Over the weekend, WhatsApp announced the new feature through its official account on the platform, giving users an easy way to fight spam. When a spam message appears on the lock screen, users can long-press the notification to reveal a number of options, including the ability to instantly block the sender.
What’s more, if users want to report a contact, WhatsApp provides a second prompt, allowing them to select the “Report contact” checkbox before pressing “Block” in the pop-up window. This streamlined process saves users valuable time by eliminating the need to navigate the app’s menus and chats to block scammers.
Previously, users had to open a chat and search the submenus to find the “block” option, or long-press on a message in the chat list and navigate to the overflow menu to access the same feature. With this update, WhatsApp aims to improve the user experience by simplifying the process of managing spam messages and giving users more control over their messaging environment.
In addition, the platform already alerts users to messages from unknown senders and offers options to add or block contacts directly from the notification.
