Shelly has quietly launched The Pill, a compact and affordable smart home accessory aimed at turning regular sensors and low-voltage devices into smart tools. Now available across Europe for just €9.98, it’s one of the smallest and most versatile adapters in Shelly’s Gen3 lineup.
The Pill by Shelly makes basic sensors smart

Measuring only 26 mm tall and weighing 3 grams, The Pill isn’t much larger than a coin. But despite its size, it adds serious functionality to otherwise non-smart setups. It supports both digital and analog sensor input, as well as low-voltage output and solid-state relay add-ons.
Shelly confirms plug-and-play compatibility with common peripherals, including:
- DS18B20 digital temperature sensors
- DHT22 humidity and temperature sensors
- Multiple analog sensors and low-voltage actuators
Use cases range from aquariums to server cabinets
The Pill is designed to be flexible. You can use it to monitor up to five temperature points in a pool or water tank. Alternatively, it’s suited for tracking climate conditions in greenhouses, warehouses, or IT racks, where space is tight but environmental control is critical.
Its tiny shell holds up in environments ranging from -20°C to 40°C, with safe humidity tolerance from 30% to 70% RH.
The Pill supports dual wireless and acts as a Bluetooth gateway
Connectivity isn’t an issue here. The Pill supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and it can double as a Bluetooth gateway for other Shelly BLU devices, like the Shelly BLU Door/Window sensor. That makes it ideal for those already invested in the ecosystem.
Power comes via 5V USB-C, keeping it simple and accessible.
Now available in Europe, US launch date unknown
The Pill is available now from Shelly’s EU web store at €9.98, with shipping from within the European Union. There’s no confirmed release date for the US market yet.
For under ten euros, Shelly’s latest smart adapter packs serious capability into a package the size of a thimble.
