Nintendo will not be excluding current Switch users despite the new generation game console Switch 2 that it will release next month. The company officially announced that support for the first generation Switch model, which it launched in 2017, will not end for a long time.
Nintendo is not ending support for the first generation Switch
In the company’s last quarter financial report, it was announced that new games such as Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokémon Champions, Rythm Heaven Groove and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream were also developed for the first generation Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo stated that more than 100 million people worldwide still use the Switch and that they will continue to offer new games to this audience. Although a clear timetable for the support period has not been announced, some of the games planned by Nintendo for the Switch are expected to be released in 2026 and 2027.
This situation indicates that both the company and third-party developers will continue to support the current console for at least two more years. Despite the release of the Switch 2, Nintendo’s continued support for the first-generation console shows that the company is following a line consistent with its past policies.
Although the company will begin developing exclusive games for the next-generation console; it will not leave old users completely behind. Unlike the Xbox and PlayStation platforms, Nintendo is not following a strategy of ending support for the old model with the release of the new model.
