Late last month, news broke that HMD Global had extended its licensing agreement with Nokia. The first fruits of this renewed partnership could be available to users very soon. The countdown has begun for the Nokia 800 Tough, a durable new push-button phone with a keyboard. Here are the details.
The Nokia 800 Tough will feature new push-buttons
According to a reliable HMD and Nokia leaker, the company is working on the second-generation Nokia 800 Tough, the successor to the original model, which gained fame for its durability in 2019. The new model, reportedly on the way after a six-year hiatus, appears to have minimal changes. Leaks suggest the device will primarily feature two major updates.

The outdated microUSB port will be replaced with the current standard USB-C port. The phone will run the newer KaiOS 3.1 operating system instead of KaiOS 2.5.2.
The released image of the new model suggests that its design is virtually identical to its predecessor. The back of the device features a single rear camera, flanked by an LED flash and speaker grille.
Given the model’s origins, it is expected to meet the MIL-STD-810G military durability standard, as well as IP68 water and dust resistance certification, as with the first generation.
The original Nokia 800 Tough, released in 2019, featured a 2.4-inch TFT display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 chipset, 512MB of RAM, and a 2MP rear camera. It also featured Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and a 2,100mAh battery. If these leaks are accurate, the Nokia 800 Tough (2nd Generation) will be a light refresh with minor hardware upgrades, rather than a complete redesign.
There is no official announcement yet regarding the device’s price or availability. However, considering that the 2019 model was launched with a price tag of €110, it will not surprise anyone if the new model is offered at a price around this price.
