In these days of ever-advancing technology, a new step has been taken for communication in space. This step involves a new collaboration. Sateliot and Telefonica have partnered to expand the access of 5G networks into space. As a result of this partnership, successful outcomes have been achieved. Here are the details!
Sateliot and Telefonica are making communication in space possible!
Sateliot and Telefonica, well-known for their achievements, are preparing to take a new step. According to recent news, the two companies are expanding the 5G network into space through their collaboration. This achievement opens the door to previously inaccessible areas and paves the way for widespread connectivity on the planet.
The two companies stated in their press release that this is a first in the history of telecommunications. They also mentioned that they recently conducted a test in which they expanded Telefonica’s terrestrial 5G network coverage using Sateliot’s satellite network through standard GSMA roaming.
The test was supervised by the European Space Agency (ESA), highlighting the significance of the achievement. During the test, Sateliot demonstrated the smooth integration of its network with Telefonica by using a SIM card provided by Telefonica Tech’s Kite platform in an IoT cellular device.
With the expansion of the 5G IoT network into space, the two companies will gain a competitive edge over their rivals. The test results showed that standard connections can be authenticated through Telefonica’s core network while passing through a non-terrestrial network.
European Space Agency’s (ESA) 5G and 6G Strategic Program Space Chief, Antonio Franchi, expressed his thoughts on the matter. The Chief described satellite IoT services as a “disruptive progress” and added his excitement about the success.
