Nothing is preparing for its new flagship, the Phone (3). CEO Carl Pei’s statements and official posters have confirmed many details about the device so far. The latest developments reveal the smartphone’s software support plans.
Nothing Phone (3) will receive 5 years of Android updates and 7 years of security patches
Nothing recently officially confirmed that the upcoming Nothing Phone (3) will use the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset.

One of the company’s co-founders, Akis Evangelidis, praised the chipset’s performance, highlighting an 88% increase in GPU speed, 33% in CPU, and a remarkable 125% boost in NPU compared to its predecessor, the Phone (2).
Today, details about software support were also confirmed. Evangelidis answered why they didn’t choose another chipset by explaining that this new processor paves the way for better software support, clearing up any doubts.
According to the company executive, the phone will receive major Android updates for five years and security patches for seven years.
As known, the predecessor, Nothing Phone (2), received three years of Android updates and four years of security patches. This means a significant improvement in software support.
The device is expected to feature a 6.5-inch AMOLED display on the front. Although there is no official confirmation for a Pro version yet, some rumors suggest an alternative with a larger 6.7-inch OLED screen might also be in development. This panel is expected to offer 1.5K resolution, HDR support, and a 120Hz refresh rate.
