Samsung is preparing to distribute the stable One UI 8 software update for the Galaxy S25 series. The latest software build seen on the Galaxy S25 Ultra model is marked with the code “BYFB”, indicating that the version is no longer in beta.
One UI 8 will officially move to stable version
In Samsung’s software coding system, the letter “Z” defines beta versions, while the letter “B” indicates that stable builds are used. This change indicates that the official release of the version is close.

The company is expected to announce the One UI 8 update on July 9, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 models. It is likely that the distribution of the update will begin around the same date.
The versions currently available to testers are stable and there are no major bug reports. This shows that Samsung is preparing to release the update to the general public without wasting any time.
Although One UI 8 is built on Android 16, it does not bring as many major design changes as the previous version One UI 7. It still includes many new features. The improved Galaxy AI capabilities aim to make a difference in user experience.
The update also includes innovations in terms of privacy and security. Easier file sharing, a new lock screen clock design, and live captioning during phone calls are among the notable changes. In addition, the process of accessing Auracast technology has been simplified.
With One UI 8, user experience improvements specific to tablets and foldable devices have also been made. In particular, it is aimed to provide a smoother experience in multitasking, screen splitting functions, and switching between applications. The Now Bar and Now Brief features introduced with One UI 7 are updated in this version with more personalization options and advanced content recommendations.
Samsung is expected to offer the update first for the Galaxy S25 family and the new foldable models in July, and then distribute it to other flagship devices shortly.
