Samsung’s latest foldables are now stepping into beta territory with One UI 8 leading the way.
One UI 8 beta lands on Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5

If you’re holding onto a Galaxy Z Fold 5 or Z Flip 5, there’s a fresh update rolling out at least in South Korea. Samsung has quietly launched the One UI 8 beta for its flagship foldables, giving users a first look at the next iteration of its software skin. The update weighs in at over 3GB, so if you’re downloading, grab some Wi-Fi and settle in.
This beta follows the One UI 8 debut on the Galaxy S23 series and select Galaxy A models just days ago. Foldable fans weren’t left behind for long.
So far, it’s Korea-only, but not for long
Right now, the beta is only live in Samsung’s home market. Early adopters in Korea confirmed the rollout via Samsung’s local Community forum, complete with screenshots of the sizeable OTA package.
There’s no official word yet on a wider release timeline, but based on past patterns, global users likely won’t have to wait more than a few days. Samsung typically ramps up beta distribution fast, especially when stable builds are already scheduled.
What to expect from the One UI 8 beta
Samsung hasn’t dropped the full changelog for the foldables just yet, but if the S23 beta is anything to go by, you can expect:
- Refreshed UI elements and smoother transitions
- Improved widget stacking and Smart Suggestions
- More granular privacy controls
- Battery and performance optimizations for foldable form factors
The update also lays the groundwork for Android 15, which One UI 8 will likely ride on top of by the time it goes stable.
Galaxy S25 stable update could be first, but not the last
Samsung previously said the stable One UI 8 release would hit devices later this month, likely starting with the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. But with the beta now live on the Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, expect those devices to be right behind.
The race is on. And foldable owners just got a head start.
