OnePlus has accelerated work on its first foldable smartphone. According to the latest leaks and reports, the phone could be unveiled next September. Finally, renderings of the OnePlus Open have emerged. The foldable device will feature a triple camera setup on the outer cover and will have a striking display.
OnePlus Plus specs and design leaked
The OnePlus Open is expected to feature a clamshell-style foldable design with a large internal and smaller external display. Leaked images show that the phone will have a wider aspect ratio compared to early prototypes.
According to leaked images, the rear camera system has been redesigned. Accordingly, the Open features a large circular camera module with three large sensors and an LED flash. The Hasselblad branding indicates that the phone will have advanced camera features.
OnePlus Open’s previously revealed technical specifications also draw attention. The device, which will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, will be powered by up to 16 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. It will be powered by a 4500 mAh battery with fast charging support. Whether this capacity is enough for the foldable device is a matter of debate.
On the other hand, the screen specifications leaked. Open will have a 7.8-inch QHD+ AMOLED inner screen with 120 refresh rate and a 6.3-inch AMOLED outer screen. It will also feature an embedded fingerprint sensor. It is expected to come out of the box with the Android 13-based OxygenOS v13.1 interface.
The OnePlus Open was originally set to launch on August 29th. However, reports indicated that it could be delayed until September due to supply issues with the display.
Pricing remains unclear, but it will have a similar price tag to the top foldable flagship models. The Google Pixel Fold 5 retails for $1800 and the Oppo Find N2 for $1400.
