Chinese smartphone maker Oppo recently announced two new devices. The new Find N3 Flip foldable phone and the Watch 4 Pro. With the Watch 4 Pro, Oppo has managed to become an alternative to the Apple Watch. Moreover, it has developed a system that provides real-time blood sugar monitoring. Thus, it managed to make a difference to its competitor.
Track real-time blood sugar with Oppo Watch 4 Pro
When it comes to smartwatch technology, Apple comes to mind first. Apple Watch is the most popular wearable device in the world. Thus, Apple holds the leadership of this industry. Other big technology giants have fiercely competed with Apple in this race. In order to beat Apple in this race, they need to solve a problem that Apple has never solved before. In this way, it can take a step forward in the race.
Apple has been working for years on a glucose sensor for regular monitoring of blood sugar levels. However, the most reliable glucose reading methods to provide accurate measurements are possible by taking blood. Developing this system with sensors is Apple’s biggest obstacle. It could take years to develop such a system.
However, Oppo brought a different solution to this problem. The Watch 4 Pro does not have its own blood glucose sensor. So how will it solve this situation if there is no sensor that can measure blood sugar? Oppo answered this question in a footnote on the page where it introduced the Watch 4 Pro.
The smartwatch needs to be connected to a glucose monitoring (CGM) device. With this, the app will be involved in glucose measurement as a third party. Furthermore, Oppo lists three devices in the footnote that work with the Oppo Watch 4 Pro, including Sannuo, Abbott and Weitai.
Having blood glucose levels appear on smartwatches will be a big step towards improving people’s quality of life, helping them correct behaviors that can lead to the early onset of diabetes. Diabetics will also benefit greatly from getting live data from their smartwatches. This will allow them to avoid using traditional blood glucose measurement methods that involve drawing blood.
This technology will also allow them to deal with low or high blood sugar immediately. Over time, better blood sugar management will be an important step in reducing the effects of excess sugar on other organs. This new technology will play an important role in improving quality of life, and companies need to act quickly.
