Philips Hue just gave its smart lighting lineup a seasonal boost. After a quiet app update, the new Winter Holidays scene category has started rolling out, bringing themed color presets to users ready to decorate with more than just tinsel.
Philips Hue introduces dynamic seasonal modes

Although app version 5.56 focused mainly on bug fixes, Philips Hue followed up with something extra: Winter Holidays scenes. These presets didn’t appear immediately after the update, but they’ve now been added silently to the scene gallery for all users.
The new category doesn’t include brand-new effects, but it curates ten returning favorites each tuned for holiday ambience. Themed around string lights, fireworks, and cozy colors, these scenes offer quick ways to light up indoor and outdoor setups.
Scene highlights bring variety to Philips Hue displays
Some modes mimic traditional holiday lights, while others aim for a softer glow. Each preset cycles through dynamic color shifts to set the mood.
Here are a few standouts:
- Under the Tree – red, green, and yellow gift-inspired tones
- Jolly – jewel tones with string light vibes
- Color Burst – animated like fireworks
- Rosy Sparkle – soft pinks for a calm tone
- Silent Night – warm peach shades
- Others include Nutcracker, Snow Sparkle, Golden Star, Crystalline, and Festive Fun
These effects work well with Hue’s color-capable products, including the Festavia Permanent Outdoor String Lights. The 90-foot version, for example, can handle each scene’s dynamic color transitions smoothly.
Keeps updates coming
Based on Philips Hue’s usual app release cycle, users can expect at least one more update before year’s end. Though it’s unclear if more scenes are on the way, these Winter Holidays presets add a bit of flair for now without the need to dig through settings.
