Qualcomm unveiled its new mobile platform, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, at its annual Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii. This chip, which promises significant improvements in CPU, GPU, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and camera performance compared to last year’s predecessor, raises the bar in mobile technology. Here are the details and the phones that will use this processor.
These devices will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
The new processor takes mobile performance to a whole new level. Qualcomm’s third-generation Oryon CPU is positioned at the center. With its prime core clocked at up to 4.6 GHz, the Gen 5 delivers up to 20 percent better performance and up to 35 percent higher efficiency compared to the previous generation.

The improved Adreno GPU has received a 23 percent boost. This boost promises smoother visuals, especially in ray-traced gaming. Qualcomm’s Hexagon NPU provides 37 percent more efficiency for on-device AI processing. This will make photo editing, productive AI tools, and smart assistants run much faster on the phone.
The first phone to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 was the Xiaomi 17 series, which was introduced in China shortly after Qualcomm’s announcement. But Xiaomi is just the beginning. Many leading brands in the market are lining up to use this chip in their new flagship models. Here are some of the devices expected to feature the chip:
- iQOO 15
- Realme GT 8 Pro
- OnePlus 15
- Honor Magic 8 series
- Nubia Z80 Ultra
- RedMagic 11 Pro
Other major brands such as Oppo, Vivo, Samsung, and ZTE are expected to join this list soon.
