Unlike previous collaborations with Porsche, the Porsche Design Honor Magic 7 RSR offers not just a change in design, but truly meaningful improvements. Although this phone is essentially an HONOR Magic 7 Pro, it has superior features. It includes major innovations in many areas such as its camera, RAM and storage capacity.

First of all, the phone’s appearance has changed; the rear glass and camera module are designed with inspiration from Porsche vehicles. There is a “Peak Line” on the back, which resembles the iconic hood lines of Porsche sports cars. In addition, there are two new color options, Provence and Agate Gray, which are identified with the original colors of Porsche cars.

However, the changes in the design may not excite many people other than Porsche fans. This is where the innovations inside the phone come into play. The Magic 7 RSR is equipped with 24GB of RAM, which is a big increase compared to the maximum 16GB of RAM of the Magic 7 Pro. There’s also 1TB of internal storage, which is more capacity than most smartphones on the market. There are also two major improvements to the camera: The aperture of the telephoto lens has been increased, which means it can take in better light. The 200MP sensor has an aperture of ƒ/1.88 instead of ƒ/2.6, making it the largest aperture for a telephoto lens among smartphones. In addition, the autofocus system has been updated to a LiDAR-based “LiDAR Matrix Autofocus System,” which provides faster and sharper focusing.

Some special adjustments have also been made to the software, with small but nice innovations such as new icon designs. When all these features come together, the PORSCHE DESIGN HONOR Magic 7 RSR offers much more than the Magic 7 Pro. However, all these upgrades come with a rather high price tag. The phone is priced at around €1,799 (~$1,865), which puts it in line with the price of a high-end foldable phone. That may be a steep cost for many users, but it does make the price a bit more justifiable when you see that this phone isn’t just a Magic 7 Pro with a new coat of paint.
