Stellantis, which is behind major manufacturers like Fiat, Chrysler, and Peugeot, has also been affected by the decline in interest in electric vehicles and challenges faced in European countries. Stellantis announced that it would temporarily halt production of Fiat’s popular electric vehicle due to these issues, directly citing the problems encountered with electric cars in Europe. The Fiat 500e has become the vehicle whose production is being paused. Here are the details…
Fiat 500e will not be produced for a month
Fiat, which has adopted new quality and pricing policies, is not the only company facing production cuts and sales losses. The global decline in interest in electric cars and slowdowns in sales have made it difficult for vehicle manufacturers to compete in the market. While many brands blame the downturn, Fiat specifically pointed to challenges in the European market.
The Fiat 500e, which reflects the spirit of Fiat and has been well received by a certain audience due to its design, will unfortunately not be produced for a month. Production will cease for four weeks, starting on September 13. The Fiat 500e, a flagship model manufactured at Fiat’s Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy, will not be produced for a while.
However, users believe the decline of the 500e is not due solely to these factors. Fiat’s pricing strategy may be pushing customers toward other brands. In the European market, the 500e, with its 42kWh battery, is sold for 35,000 Euros, while the newest Kia EV3 model, with a 58.3 kWh battery, is priced at 36,000 Euros.
For those looking for a vehicle similar in size to the 500e, the Citroen e-C3 is available at a much more affordable price of 23,300 Euros—almost 12,000 Euros cheaper than the 500e. Despite this, the Stellantis group continues to invest and has announced plans to introduce a hybrid model for the 500 series between 2025 and 2026. In Turkey, the 2023 model 500e is being sold for 1,475,900 TL.
