In recent years, Elon Musk, who acquired Twitter, has continued to implement major changes on the platform without slowing down. First, he rebranded the social media platform and changed its name to X. Now, the entrepreneur has made another significant decision regarding the DM feature. Here are the details!
X is saying goodbye to DMs
According to reliable sources and employees at X (Twitter), the platform will soon be removing the DM tab entirely. Zach Warunek, a software engineer at the company, gave an unexpected response to a post from a user who was experiencing issues with DM message requests. Warunek stated that the DM tab would soon be completely removed.
However, the removal of the DM feature on X does not mean that messaging will no longer be available on the platform. Instead, a new messaging system called XChat is expected to be introduced. It’s also been reported that company employees have already been testing this new messaging system for some time.
XChat is said to be a fully-featured WhatsApp rival thanks to the features it will offer. Unfortunately, there is no official release date for the new messaging system just yet. However, considering X is under Elon Musk’s leadership, it’s safe to say we probably won’t have to wait too long.
So, what do you think about this? Do you believe XChat will be successful? When do you think it might launch? Don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section!
