Xiaomi President Lu Weibing confirmed that the highly anticipated new Redmi K90 series will be officially unveiled next week. Weibing described this series as the “second chapter” of Xiaomi’s flagship launch season, emphasizing that the series represents a major leap forward for the Redmi brand in both positioning and innovation. Here are the details.
Redmi K90 Pro Max Targets the High-End Market
According to Lu Weibing, the K90 series comes in two models: the Redmi K90 and the new, higher-end member of the series, the Redmi K90 Pro Max. With this launch, Redmi is making its earliest flagship launch in recent years, pushing its release schedule from November to October. The K90 Pro Max will be the first “Pro Max” device released under the Redmi brand and will directly target the 4,000 Yuan (approximately $560) and above price segment.

Weibing stated that the Pro Max model aims to offer “the highest level of performance and quality,” and will excel in performance, durability, display, and camera technology. The camera is expected to feature a 50-megapixel 1/1.3-inch main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a periscope telephoto lens, a first for the K series.
Weibing stated that the K series is no longer defined solely by pricing or technical hierarchy, signaling Redmi’s readiness to directly compete with Xiaomi’s main series. The Redmi K90 will be positioned as an “elevated all-round flagship,” while the Redmi K90 Pro Max will be positioned as a “comprehensive technology flagship focused on groundbreaking innovation.”
According to industry reports, the series’ processor selection is also quite ambitious:
- Redmi K90: Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
- Redmi K90 Pro Max: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
Both phones are expected to feature 2K resolution OLED displays and offer up to 7,500mAh batteries, giving the series a significant battery life advantage.
