Capcom has made the anticipated introduction for Resident Evil Requiem, the new installment of the Resident Evil series. The game, which was first announced at Summer Game Fest 2025 earlier this month, attracted attention with its first trailer, but not much information was given about it. With the five-minute video released yesterday, in-game footage and statements from the production team were revealed for the first time.
Resident Evil Requiem has been unveiled
Resident Evil Requiem is positioned as the ninth game in the series’ main story. The story revolves around FBI agent Grace Ashcroft, who was introduced for the first time in the series. Ashcroft is assigned to a mysterious case opened for Raccoon City, which disappeared 30 years ago. Capcom states that the game’s horror elements will be more prominent compared to previous games.
Koshi Nakanishi, who undertook the directorship of the game, states that Grace is an inexperienced character in gunfights and that this feature will offer players room to develop. Nakanishi also says that Grace’s easily frightened and cautious nature makes her a suitable character for Requiem’s dark atmosphere. The character’s psychological reactions and emotional fragility are reflected in the game in a way that offers players a different experience.
The promotional video also shared information that players can freely switch between two different camera angles. The game can be played from both first-person (FPS) and third-person (TPS) perspectives. The video shows that these transitions occur instantly and without interruption. In addition, some of the new creatures Grace will encounter were revealed for the first time in these images.
Resident Evil Requiem will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms on February 27, 2026. No additional information has yet been shared about the game’s technical details and system requirements. However, the published video reveals that Requiem sets out with a more intense atmosphere, a more personal story and a renewed gameplay structure compared to previous games.
