NVIDIA has decided to make a significant change to its GeForce RTX 5060 Ti graphics card lineup, which launched in April 2025. The card’s 8GB memory option performed below expectations.
The RTX 5060 Ti 8GB sales were disappointing
As a result, the company has been instructed to limit the supply of the 8GB model and prioritize sales of the higher-memory 16GB model.

According to leaked reports, NVIDIA is reducing the number of 8GB memory cards shipped to distributors and retailers to balance inventory management. With this move, the company aims to reduce the number of cards on shelves and shift market demand to the 16GB memory model.
This decision was driven by a balance of price and performance. The 16GB RTX 5060 Ti model carries a price tag only $70 higher than the 8GB version, but it is generating significantly more interest from users. Users’ perception that 8GB of VRAM is insufficient, especially at 2K resolutions, has led them to opt for higher-memory cards.
Furthermore, NVIDIA’s competition in this area appears to be another factor influencing their decision. AMD’s competing model, the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB, sells at a similar price point to the 8GB RTX 5060 Ti. This limits the competitiveness of NVIDIA’s 8GB model.
It remains unclear how NVIDIA’s new stock policy will impact sales of the 8GB version. However, the current situation suggests users will continue to opt for the 16GB version for a while.
