Samsung is making a significant change to the RAM Plus feature with the upcoming One UI 8 update. The feature, which was introduced in 2021 and increases the RAM capacity of the device by using the storage space as temporary memory, was limited to 8 GB until now.
Samsung will renew the RAM Plus feature
However, with the new software version, this limit is being increased to 12 GB on certain Galaxy models. This will make it possible for more applications to run in the background, especially when multitasking.

Samsung’s RAM Plus technology uses a certain part of the device’s storage space as virtual memory in addition to physical RAM. This method helps improve performance, especially on phones with lower hardware.
However, this system is not a direct replacement for physical RAM. Technically, the use of virtual memory at levels that exceed the actual RAM capacity of the device provides limited efficiency. In tests conducted on the Galaxy Z Flip 6; In addition to 2 GB, 4 GB and 8 GB, a 12 GB option was now seen in the RAM Plus settings.
This indicates a level equal to the physical RAM capacity of the device. However, it was stated that this option will be active on Galaxy models with at least 12 GB of physical RAM. In other words, the 12 GB RAM Plus option will not be offered on devices with 8 GB or less RAM.
