Samsung is working on plans to end the wired charging era in the Galaxy series. Based on feedback from users, the company is considering significant changes to the phone’s design. Surveys conducted through the Samsung Members app indicate that the charging port may be removed from future Galaxy models.
Samsung is ending the wired era
The surveys collected users’ opinions on a magnet-based wireless charging system similar to Apple’s MagSafe technology. They also asked about whether wireless charging could fully replace wired charging, the frequency of USB port use, and the need for wired data transfer.

While the current Galaxy S25 series models feature Qi 2 wireless charging support, magnet integration is not yet integrated. Samsung’s plan is to integrate this magnet system directly into the phone, eliminating the need for separate cases.
User habits regarding USB port usage are also being examined in detail. The survey addressed the frequency of daily USB port use, preferred methods for data transfer, and the importance of a wired connection.
Survey results and leaks suggest that Samsung is seriously considering removing the charging port in favor of fully opting for wireless charging technologies. While the finalization of these changes remains unclear, they are seen as a radical step in the tech world. It remains to be seen how users will react to this innovation and how the widespread adoption of wireless charging will impact their technology habits.
