Samsung has raised the bar for high-speed gaming displays, unveiling the Odyssey OLED G6 — the first 500Hz OLED gaming monitor — alongside two new curved Odyssey G7 models.
Samsung Brings the Speed With Odyssey OLED G6

The 27-inch Odyssey OLED G6 pushes QHD visuals at a staggering 500Hz, making 240Hz feel tame. Its 0.03ms response time, QD-OLED colour, and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification are aimed squarely at competitive players chasing every frame.
The display supports both Nvidia G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, hits up to 1,000 nits brightness, and comes coated with Samsung’s Glare Free tech to keep reflections in check.
OLED Safeguard+ and Pantone Validation
To calm fears of OLED burn-in, Samsung has included its OLED Safeguard+ protection. The panel is also Pantone validated, promising colour accuracy that mirrors real-world tones — a plus for both gamers and content creators.
Display boss David Phelps said the goal was simple: “deliver enhanced levels of competitive and immersive gaming and set a new benchmark for monitor performance and design.”
Odyssey G7 Models Go Bigger and Curvier
For players who want their screen to wrap around them, Samsung’s new G7 options come in 37-inch and 40-inch sizes. The 37-inch model sports a deep 1000R curve, 4K UHD resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, and 1ms response time. The 40-inch version stretches to a 21:9 WUHD aspect ratio with a 180Hz refresh rate for wide-view, cinematic gaming.
Both models are HDR 600 certified, and like the G6, support AMD FreeSync Premium Pro.
Feature Set Built for Flexibility
Across the new monitors, Samsung has kept its extras intact:
- CoreSync and CoreLighting+ RGB effects
- Auto Source Switch+ for seamless device swapping
- Split-screen mode on the 40-inch G7 for gaming and secondary tasks
While the marketing push is aimed at competitive gaming, the extra workspace makes these panels just as tempting for productivity.
Samsung Plays the Panel Arms Race Well
With these releases, Samsung is planting a flag in both speed and scale. The G6’s 500Hz OLED spec targets esports purists, while the G7’s sweeping displays court immersive gamers who want more screen than desk.
As refresh rates push higher and OLED tech becomes mainstream in gaming, Samsung’s timing positions it to claim an early edge — especially among players who believe every extra hertz counts.
More Than Just Specs on Paper
Numbers look good on a spec sheet, but the combination of speed, colour precision, and thoughtful extras will determine if these monitors become favourites. If first impressions hold up, Samsung may have just delivered the kind of hardware that changes what gamers expect from their screens.
