Samsung has decided to postpone the comprehensive camera innovations in its Galaxy S series smartphones until the Galaxy S28, which is planned to be introduced in 2028 at the earliest. It is stated that the company will preserve the camera hardware of the current S25 series in the Galaxy S26 and probably S27 Ultra models during this period.

There are two main reasons behind this decision. First, it is predicted that large and advanced camera sensors will increase the thickness of the device within the scope of Samsung’s strategy to develop thinner and lighter designs.

It is reported that this situation contradicts the brand’s design goals. The second reason is cost management. The company, which aims to increase the profitability of the mobile unit, is taking steps to keep production costs under control, especially due to the difficulties experienced in chip units.

It is stated that Samsung has turned its focus to software and artificial intelligence-based camera technologies during this period, where hardware developments will take a backseat. Systems such as the ProVisual Engine, developed within the framework of Galaxy AI, are aimed to increase camera quality with new generation image processing algorithms without changing the physical sensor.

In the Galaxy S26 and S27 series, users will not encounter any significant hardware changes. Instead, more advanced software features will be offered with existing sensors. Major hardware changes are expected to come with the Galaxy S28 in 2028.
