While Samsung continues to work on its new software interface, One UI 8, based on Android 16, one of the striking components of the system is the improved Earthquake Alerts feature. According to the latest information, Samsung is working on a new structure that goes beyond the Android Earthquake Alert System offered by Google.
One UI 8 will improve the earthquake alert system
One of the main features offered by the new system will be the ability to determine the magnitude of earthquakes for which alerts will be triggered. Thus, users can manually set the earthquake magnitude threshold level.

In addition, this threshold level can be defined separately for day and night hours. These time intervals are clearly stated on the settings page and each earthquake intensity level is explained in understandable language. Users can also review earthquake alerts received in the past through the system. This alert history provides a functional archive in terms of possible recurrences or tracking previous danger levels.
Other important features included in the system include; listing nearby emergency shelters, direct communication with predefined emergency contacts, and the ability to record vital medical information about the user in the system and share it with emergency teams.
For earthquakes below the specified threshold level, information is provided on the screen, but this notification does not distract the user from what they are actively doing. In addition, a test simulation is provided for users who want to see how the warning system works.
The Advanced Earthquake Alerts feature is currently only available in the One UI 8.0 beta version for the Galaxy S25 series. What do you think about this? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
