Samsung is expected to continue offering 25W fast charging to its mid-range Galaxy A series smartphones. The Galaxy A55, which recently received regulatory approval in China, showed in the official listing that it will support 25W fast charging. This means that Samsung will not improve on 25W charging capacity.
Samsung Galaxy A55 will not come with a charging adapter
The smartphone, bearing the model number SM-A5560, has made its debut on China’s 3C certification site. The listing confirmed that the Galaxy A55 will support 9V/2.77A fast charging over USB-C. But while previous Galaxy A devices have had a charger in the box, the Galaxy A55 will only have a USB Type-C cable.
Many companies, notably Apple, have removed the power adapter from the box to reduce e-waste. Samsung seems to continue this trend in its new budget-friendly model. Accordingly, users will need to purchase the 25W PD charging adapter separately.
There aren’t many other official details about the Galaxy A55’s specs. However, earlier rumors indicated that it will be powered by the Exynos 1480 chipset. The new mobile platform will deliver a performance boost with four high-power cores clocked at up to 2.75 GHz compared to the Exynos 1380 found in previous models.
While it’s aimed at the price/performance end of the spectrum, the mid-range 25W charging speed may annoy some users. It should be noted that Chinese manufacturers’ smartphones at a similar level have a charging capacity of up to 100W.
The launch date of the Galaxy A55 is uncertain. However, previous rumors revealed that it could be unveiled in March next year.
