London-based smartphone manufacturer Nothing has released a video comparing its yet-to-be-released Phone (3a) model with Apple’s latest iPhone 16 Pro. However, the company has been the target of criticism for an error in video stabilisation tests. Here are the details of the news about Nothing and Apple…
Incorrect lens use caused reactions
In the video shared by Nothing, the Phone (3a) appeared to outperform the iPhone 16 Pro in video stabilisation. However, attentive viewers noticed that Apple used its ultra-wide-angle lens during the test, while Nothing used Phone (3a)’s main camera. This made it look like iPhone was performing worse than it actually was.

Following the criticism, Nothing explained in a comment pinned to the video that the issue arose as a result of a mistake and that they did not intend to mislead users. The company stated that they took different shots with all lenses and that a wrong image was used during editing. Stating that they will be more careful in the future, the company thanked its followers for telling the wrong.
Although blurring was applied in the video to not fully show the back design of Nothing Phone (3a), the camera features of the device were shared. Phone (3a) will come with a 50 Megapixel OIS-supported main camera, a 50 Megapixel periscope zoom lens and an 8 Megapixel ultra wide-angle Sony lens. There will be a 50 Megapixel selfie camera on the front.
According to the information, Phone (3a) will be introduced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona on 4 March 2025. It is stated that the company will release two different models this year, Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro. While both devices are expected to come with Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, it is rumoured that the Pro model will have more advanced camera features.
