Snapdragon 8 Gen series, which is considered the pinnacle of Android phones, takes its place in flagship models of brands every year. Following Qualcomm‘s change in its naming policy, the third flagship model, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, will be with us earlier than expected.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is coming earlier than expected
Qualcomm has set the launch date of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 as October 2023. The new processor will showcase itself at Qualcomm’s annual Snapdragon Summit. The event, which is planned to take place in Maui, Hawaii, will open its doors on October 24-26.
In its now-classic event, Qualcomm will share the details of its flagship processor along with its other technologies. By introducing Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and 2 in November in the past, the company surprised everyone in this regard.
In addition to the announcement date of the new processor, it also seems to surprise with its performance. According to the information received, the processor, which will gain a significant performance boost, will host a Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.7GHz. Changes in the core architecture of the processor are also expected.
The current most up-to-date chipset used today, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, features Cortex-X3 architecture and operates at 3.2GHz. This means that performance in everyday use will be directly affected. Additionally, the new processor is expected to have a 1+5+2 architecture, with one “super big” core, five “big” cores, and two “small” cores.
Another upgrade that will be offered with new flagship processor is the Adreno 750 GPU with a frequency of 770 MHz. Let’s recall that currently, Adreno 740 GPUs are used with a 4nm architecture. Qualcomm also relies on TSMC for production. TSMC will use advanced derivatives called N4P instead of N4 chips in the new processors.
Qualcomm aims to represent the top-tier in Android phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. So, what are your thoughts on Qualcomm and flagship processor? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments section.
