Sony confirms PlayStation VR 2 launching in early 2023
The gaming giant launched PS5 in 2020, and the company keeps it updated constantly with new features, games, and tools. The company will introduce the new PlayStation VR 2 gaming headset for the game console. Sony confirmed that the new headset will arrive in early 2023.
Indeed, Sony announced most of the details about the new VR headset. It will be an update to the PlayStation VR that the company launched for the PS4 back in 2016. There are details about its specs, design, and even a confirmed game. However, there is not any announcement about the price.
The Sony PlayStation VR 2 will have a color scheme that is similar to the PS5. It will come with unique vibrating feedback, controllers with advanced haptics, along with eye tracking, a 110- degree field of view, and foveated rendering. It will also have a technology that focuses only on where the fovea of the eye is looking to maximize resolution, increasing the graphics with fewer pixels.
Sony PlayStation VR 2’s one of the unique features is a live broadcast mode, which will use the PS5’s TV-mounted camera to record yourself overlaid with footage from your gaming into a single broadcast. The company also gave details about the display modes. The headset will come in two modes: one, for VR, will display at 2000×2040 pixels per eye in HDR, at 90Hz or 120Hz. A 2D “cinematic mode,” much like what the original PSVR can do, plays movies and 2D games at 1920×1080 resolution in HDR at either 24Hz, 60Hz, or 120Hz.
