In a post on industry insider forum ResetEra, reliable games insider Tom Henderson shared new details about several major projects reportedly in development at Sony’s Worldwide Studios.
Exciting new games for PS5
According to Henderson, Sony is looking to reduce the typical time between a game’s announcement and release. The company aims for around a two year window, a notable decrease from the standard six year development cycles that have become common for modern AAA blockbusters.
This move would help Sony maintain a steady pace of exciting new reveals and launches. It also follows a growing trend across the industry to streamline development and keep hype high around upcoming titles.
Sony is said to have a strong slate of projects in the works from its top internal studios. Insomniac Games, the developer behind PlayStation exclusives like Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank, reportedly has an undisclosed new title in development.
Additionally, Naughty Dog may be working on a new project following the release of The Last of Us Part 1 remake. And Sucker Punch Productions is believed to be deep into development on a sequel to the acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima from 2020.
If Henderson’s claims prove true, Sony fans have a great selection of potential new exclusives to look forward to from their favorite Worldwide Studios developers in the coming years. With shorter development cycles, PlayStation owners may not have to wait too long to experience these imagined blockbusters firsthand on PS5.
