Sony has been working on the Xperia 1 VII for some time, and the countdown for its unveiling has begun. Reports so far suggest that the smartphone will offer flagship-level performance. However, recent updates indicate that the product’s launch has been postponed.
Sony Xperia 1 VII Launch Delayed: So When Will It Be Introduced?
Reliable sources previously claimed that the much-leaked Sony Xperia 1 VII would be introduced on May 15. However, the latest developments reveal that the smartphone’s launch has been delayed to October.

The Sony Xperia 1 VII recently appeared in the NCC database, and with this development, a live image of the device has surfaced. Looking at the image, the smartphone will feature a vertically aligned triple camera setup. Unfortunately, no visuals of the front panel are available yet.
The Xperia 1 VII will feature a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. A 12 MP selfie sensor is located in the top bezel. The device measures 161.9 x 74.5 x 8.5 mm, and its thickness reaches 11 mm when including the camera bump.
On the rear, there’s a triple camera system comprising a 48 MP main sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 12 MP periscope lens offering optical zoom from 70 mm to 200 mm. Although earlier reports claimed all sensors would come from Sony’s Exmor T series, the latest information suggests this won’t entirely be the case.
The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It will offer 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of internal storage. The battery capacity will be at least 5,000 mAh, with support for 30W fast charging.
The Xperia 1 VII will ship with Android 15 out of the box, and the starting price is expected to be around $1,399.
