Sony has listed the new model in the Xperia 1 series, the Sony Xperia 1 VIII, on its eSIM database. This development indicates that the device will make a powerful debut with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Technology enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting this flagship.
Sony Xperia 1 VIII’s eSIM Approval Process
The Sony Xperia 1 VIII has been listed in the eSIM database with model numbers PM-1502-BV, PM-1503-BV, and PM-1521-BV. These numbers represent global and regional versions. Furthermore, the Hot Mobile database confirms that the device is still in development. Therefore, it appears Sony will not abandon the Xperia series.

Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor accelerates CPU performance by 20 percent and GPU performance by 23 percent. Energy efficiency is also increased by 35 percent. This processor is already used in phones like the Xiaomi 17 series and the Honor Magic 8 Pro. Sony will integrate this power into the Xperia 1 VIII, making it ideal for gaming and multimedia.
The SO-51G (Docomo) model is prominent in Japan. Codenames SOG17 and A601SO are also expected for other carriers. This approach is compatible with previous Xperia models, allowing Sony to meet local demand. Most importantly, with eSIM support, users will no longer be tied to physical SIM cards.
