Sony is reportedly preparing to unveil another flagship in the near future. Called the Sony Xperia 5 V, it will be the successor to the Xperia 5 IV, which was unveiled in September last year. The camera setup and the design of the device have been leaked in a promotional video.
Sony Xperia 5 V comes with dual cameras and compact design
A new video posted on Reddit shows that the Xperia 5 V will feature a dual camera setup on the back. This module is expected to include a main lens and an ultra wide-angle lens. This is a downsizing compared to the triple camera setup on the Xperia 5 IV. One of the cameras shows Zeiss branding. This means that Sony will pay more attention to low-light photography.
The video also highlights the simple design of the new model. The device will have a similar screen to the Xperia 1 IV and a 3.5mm headphone jack. In addition, the commercial video shows black, white and blue color options.
While pricing details are not yet known, the dual camera setup suggests that the Xperia 5 V will be cheaper than the Xperia 5 IV, which is available for $999. This could bring Sony’s compact Xperia 5 in line with the higher-end Xperia 1 family. The Xperia 1 V, which was unveiled last month, was priced at $1100.
Rumored specs for the Xperia 5 V include a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, up to 16GB of RAM and support for 33W fast charging. If Sony follows a similar launch schedule as last year, we can expect the Xperia 5 V to be announced in September.
