Sony’s new flagship, the Xperia 1 VII, is set to make a splash with its camera features. According to industry sources, the tech giant will equip all three of the rear cameras with its latest Exmor T CMOS sensor. So, what does this mean? Here are the details.
Sony Xperia 1 VII Camera Features Leaked
Sony’s latest image sensor, the Exmor T, will enhance the photography capabilities of the Xperia 1 VII. Compared to the Exmor RS sensor used in previous Xperia 1 models, which is nearly a decade old, the new Exmor T features a two-layer transistor pixel design.

This two-layer transistor reduces noise and significantly improves performance in low-light conditions. Additionally, it offers increased dynamic range for capturing a broader tonal and detail range.
In the Xperia 1 VI model, the Exmor T sensor was only used in the main camera. However, the Xperia 1 VII will integrate this sensor into all three rear cameras: a 52 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 12 MP telephoto camera.
While the sensor sizes and megapixel counts will remain similar to the Xperia 1 VI model, this technological advancement in the sensor will result in improvements in critical areas like image quality, dynamic range, and low-light performance.
