After years of delays and false starts, Spotify lossless streaming is finally rolling out. Premium subscribers can now stream music in full FLAC quality, offering uncompressed audio that brings Spotify in line with rivals like Apple Music and Amazon Music.
Spotify lossless streaming hits up to 24-bit FLAC quality

Spotify now supports up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC audio for users in more than 50 countries. That means you can finally hear your favorite tracks without the compression that standard streaming uses.
Early access is already live in markets like the US, UK, Germany, Australia, Japan, and Sweden. Users will see an in-app notification once the feature becomes available. To turn it on, go to:
Settings and Privacy > Media Quality > Lossless.
Lossless settings apply per device, not account-wide
One key detail: lossless audio must be enabled separately on each device. Unlike some settings that carry over, this one stays local. Spotify Connect is the recommended option for high-quality playback on speakers from brands like Bose, Yamaha, and Bluesound.
If you’re using Bluetooth headphones, you’re out of luck. Spotify notes that Bluetooth’s bandwidth limitations mean you won’t get true lossless quality over wireless connections. Wi-Fi streaming or downloading is the way to go.
Spotify enters the lossless race late but with scale
Spotify teased a hi-fi tier back in 2021, but licensing complications pushed it back multiple times. Competitors didn’t wait Apple Music added lossless support in 2021, and Amazon made its HD tier free for subscribers the same year.
Spotify’s offering is now live for most of its 100-million-song library, but not all tracks will be lossless at launch.

Spotify may have arrived late, but with this update, the platform is finally giving audiophiles what they’ve been waiting for no more excuses, just better sound.
