Spotify has decided to expand video support on the platform. A while ago it offered TikTok-style vertical, short videos. Now it wants music videos to be watched on Spotify. The platform, which will resemble YouTube with this feature, will also make clips functional again.
Full-length music videos are coming to Spotify
In the rapidly evolving world of digital entertainment, Spotify continues to take strategic steps. According to information from sources close to the company, negotiations have started between the music platform and publishing organizations. In case of an agreement, the full version of music videos will be available on Spotify.
Currently, Spotify allows singers to upload videos to their music that are less than 10 seconds long. This feature, called “Canvas”, will now support full videos. This way, you will be able to see clips of songs while listening to them, just like on YouTube.
Spotify, which has been looking to expand its audio-based service for some time, draws attention with its innovations in the video field. For example, Spotify made it possible to discover new songs with its TikTok-like vertical video feature. You can use this feature with the Explore button in the bottom menu of the platform.
Spotify has also previously agreed with various television programs. The company shared short clips of these programs on the platform and presented their music as a playlist. Thus, followers could easily access music from Spotify.
The company announced a while ago that it would offer HiFi support with a new subscription tier. The subscription called Supremium is expected to be more expensive than Premium.
