Earlier this year, Asus introduced the ROG Ally handheld console powered by the Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU. The cheaper version of this console is finally available for sale. How much is the new ROG Ally powered by Ryzen Z1?
ROG Ally with Ryzen Z1 is $100 cheaper
Asus has launched the ROG Ally version powered by AMD Ryzen Z1. The version with the Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU will retail for $699, while the new model will retail for $599. So what are the differences of this low-budget model?
Despite using a performance-oriented APU, the Ryzen Z1 Ally shares the same design as its powerful sibling. It features a 7-inch 1080p 120Hz display, customizable back buttons, RGB lighting, and 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Storage is available in 512GB.
The main differences between the two models start with the processor. The Ryzen Z1 has six cores compared to the Z1 Extreme’s eight. It also comes with four cores on the GPU side. According to preliminary tests, there can be up to 30 percent performance difference in big budget games.
Asus didn’t disclose the performance difference between the two models, but said you’ll get “decent frame rates” in many popular games. At 100 dollars cheaper, it is thought to be a price/performance model.
It is unclear when the Ryzen Z1 ROG Ally will go on sale in Turkey. However, we should note that the version currently sold in our country has Ryzen Z1 Extreme and starts at 30 thousand TL.
