Following the huge success of its Steam Deck, Valve has been revealed to be working on new hardware. According to leaks from Geekbench, a mysterious device codenamed “Fremont” has been discovered. This leak suggests that Valve may be reviving its Steam Machine project, which failed nearly a decade ago.
Steam will launch a new device
The first Steam Machine attempt was unsuccessful, but today’s scenario is very different. Thanks to Valve’s Proton compatibility layer, it is now possible to run Windows games on Linux-based devices.

The success of the Steam Deck has also proven Valve’s credibility in this field. Therefore, with the right pricing, the likelihood of a new Steam Machine being successful is quite high.
According to the leak, the “Valve Fremont” uses a custom-designed processor based on AMD’s Hawk Point 2. This processor runs at 3.2 GHz with 6 cores and 12 threads. The device also features a desktop-grade Radeon RX 7600 GPU. Although Windows 11 Pro is listed as the operating system, it’s thought to be a test platform.
The name “Fremont” isn’t new. It first surfaced last December during Valve’s work on the ChromeOS Embedded Controller driver. This strengthens the possibility that the device, with HDMI CEC support, could be a living room-focused product.
The leaked Fremont specifications are as follows:
- Processor: AMD Hawk Point 2 (based on Ryzen 5 8540U, hybrid Zen 4 + Zen 4c architecture)
- GPU: Radeon RX 7600
- RAM: 8GB
- OS: Windows 11 Pro (Presumed to be a test platform)
