In the fourth quarter of 2024 (October-December), vivo emerged as the top-selling smartphone brand in China. The company shipped 13.2 million devices, securing a 17.6% market share, and surpassing its competitors. Compared to the same period last year, vivo’s sales increased by 14.8%, further solidifying its leadership in the market.
vivo Maintains Its Top Position in China!
Apple ranked second with 13 million shipments and a 17.3% market share, closely trailing vivo. However, Apple experienced a 7.1% decline in sales, which allowed Huawei to rise rapidly. Huawei shipped 12.7 million units, achieving a 16.9% market share with a 14.4% growth rate, bringing it very close to Apple.

Xiaomi saw the largest growth in the Chinese market. The company shipped 12.3 million devices, reaching a 16.4% market share and recording an impressive 29.5% growth. Following Xiaomi, Oppo and Honor each shipped 10.5 million units, securing a 14% market share. However, Oppo grew by 7.1%, while Honor declined by 13.2%.
In total, 75 million smartphones were shipped in Q4 2024, reflecting a 5.3% market growth. This marks the fourth consecutive quarter of year-over-year growth for China’s smartphone market. Over the entire year, 271.4 million devices were shipped, representing a 3.7% increase compared to 2023.
With the Chinese government introducing smartphone subsidies, market growth is expected to continue in 2025. Huawei’s rise and Apple’s decline indicate a shift in consumer preferences towards domestic brands in China.
