Despite its launch several years ago, the Tesla Cybertruck hasn’t yet fully caught on with consumers. While Tesla has been taking reservations worldwide, it has only been available in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Now, the vehicle, which is being offered outside of North America for the first time, has been announced for South Korea. Here are the details.
Cybertruck in South Korea
Tesla South Korea officially announced the Cybertruck on the X platform, urging those who have already made reservations to confirm within a week. The vehicle’s starting price is 145 million KRW, approximately $104,000, approximately $24,000 more than the US price.
While it may be surprising that Tesla chose South Korea as its first stop outside North America, its strong fan base and investor base in the country played a role in this decision.
With Cybertruck sales capped at 25,000 units annually, the company is far from its original target of 250,000 units. With EV tax credits set to expire in the US starting in October, Tesla is reportedly turning to new markets to compensate for the loss of potential buyers in its home market.
