Tesla has introduced a new version of the Model Y. The two-seater Model Y, developed for commercial and small business-oriented customers, has become a reality. Introduced in Europe, the Model Y will now only have two seats to maximize cargo space and receive commercial vehicle incentives.

The new configuration, called Model Y Cargo, removes the rear seats to leave a larger storage space. Tesla stated that with this move, it increased the cargo capacity to 2158 liters. This offers businesses more space compared to the standard 7-seater Model Y.
According to Tesla, the longer range will be another advantage. According to the manufacturer, the Model Y Cargo can travel up to 565 kilometers on a single charge according to the WLTP test cycle. This is about 30 kilometers more than the top version.
Being classified as a commercial vehicle also makes the Model Y Cargo eligible to benefit from advantages in certain markets. The model, which will first be offered for sale in France, will be exempt from the country’s 18 percent VAT tax. This means Tesla will appeal to more businesses.
Although Tesla has not yet announced pricing, the Model Y Cargo will first be offered to French customers who contact Tesla. It is also unclear if or when the automaker will expand this program to other countries.
On the other hand, it is also known that Tesla is working on a cheaper model that can compete with models such as the MG 4 and Volkswagen ID.2. The company shared some technical details about the Tesla Model 2 at an investor event held in March 2023. Musk stated that Model 2 will be offered at a more affordable price.
