Tesla has made a significant milestone in automotive history. The company’s CEO Elon Musk announced that a Tesla Model Y vehicle had set off from the Gigafactory in Texas and arrived at a customer’s home completely autonomously without any human intervention. This development was recorded as the first vehicle delivery on public roads without remote control.
Tesla Model Y arrived autonomously from the factory to the customer
The delivery process took place on a route that included highways. Musk stated that the vehicle had neither a driver nor remote control from the outside along the route. It was stated that the delivery in question was completed one day earlier than planned. Tesla announced that the delivery took place over a 30-minute distance and that the entire process was recorded on video. The footage in question was published on the company’s official channels.
Just before this development, Tesla launched a limited robotaxi service in the city of Austin last week. The robotaxi service is carried out with Model Y vehicles in certain areas of the city center.
The vehicles, equipped with camera systems in each vehicle, are monitored by remote operators for possible problems. It was reported that the system is still in the testing phase and that the vehicles require manual intervention in some cases.
However, Tesla’s autonomous delivery offered a completely independent driving example, unlike the current robotaxi system. The fact that the vehicle reaches its destination without any supervision shows both Tesla’s progress in autonomous driving technology and that an important legal and technical threshold has been passed.
Elon Musk announced the delivery on his social media platform X. In his post, he stated that this development is a historic step not only for Tesla, but for the entire automotive and artificial intelligence industry.
