12GB RAM and SD 8 Gen 2 SoC: What does the NIO Phone promise?
The Tesla rival automotive giant is preparing to enter the market by launching its first phone on September 21. The NIO Phone is expected to feature a 120Hz display and be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
According to previous leaks, it will come with 12GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. The phone is also rumored to run Android 13 out of the box. Other details such as camera features, battery capacity and pricing are still unclear.
The Nio Phone scored 1,360,974 points on AnTuTu. The phone’s AnTuTu benchmark performance is below that of China-only Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 smartphones. This suggests that Nio needs to further optimize the software.
The specifications leaked so far reveal that NIO wants to compete with flagship models from brands like Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi.
NIO Phone is expected to provide car integration. In China, some phones from brands such as Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus are used as digital car keys. It is rumored that this device can also be used to unlock the company’s own electric cars. It is not clear whether it will be sold globally or target the Chinese market. It will be introduced on September 21.
