Tesla released an update to solve the ghost consumption problem
Tesla owners may have noticed that their vehicles consume electricity even when parked. This is called “ghost consumption”. Even when not in use, the vehicle continues to consume energy due to reasons such as the battery warm-up management system and network connectivity features. This has a negative impact on the vehicle’s range and requires frequent recharging.
With the new version 4.35.0, the car will wake up only when the user sends a command. Previously, even opening the Tesla app would wake the vehicle and cause energy consumption. Now, users will be able to open the app and control the vehicle without waking it up. This means that vehicles will consume less energy when parked and your battery will last longer.
In fact, this is not the first step Tesla has taken to reduce phantom consumption. They had previously reduced energy consumption by 40 percent by updating Sentry Mode. Sentry Mode is a security feature that monitors your car while parked and records when it detects movement. This mode caused high energy consumption. Tesla significantly reduced energy consumption with this update.
