Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced at the White House event that the company will double its electric vehicle production in the US in the next two years. Tesla’s plan to achieve this goal is considered a remarkable claim given the company’s current production capacity and sales performance.
Tesla can double its electric vehicle production in the US
According to Musk’s statement, production is expected to reach 1.4 million within two years. Among the steps the company plans to achieve this goal are two new, more affordable models to be launched in 2025.

With the new models being produced on the existing Model 3/Y production lines, the overall capacity is planned to be fully utilised. This will mean the production of 200,000 additional vehicles. In addition, Tesla Semi production will start at the new production facility in Nevada and the targeted production of 50,000 units can contribute to this figure.
The Cybercab model, which Tesla plans to put into production in 2026, will also play an important role in the company’s growth strategy. Elon Musk suggests that this model, which will be based on Tesla’s next-generation production system, can reach an annual production capacity of 2 million.
However, it remains uncertain that the production of this vehicle, which is expected to be steering wheelless and fully autonomous, will reach high volumes in a short time. In particular, the fact that Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology, which is Tesla’s full autonomous driving software, has not yet been completed, raises questions about whether this process will progress as fast as expected.
Tesla’s claims about the production increase show that the company continues its growth plans without slowing down despite the recent fluctuations. However, in order for the targeted production increase to be realised, many factors such as supply chain management, production capacity utilisation and market demand will need to proceed in harmony.
