Samsung regained its title as the world’s best-selling smartphone manufacturer in 2024. Having lost the top spot to Apple last year, the company managed to reclaim the lead in the first three months of this year. Here are the top-selling phone brands.

According to the latest reports from Counterpoint Research, Samsung captured a 20% global market share by selling 19.69 million phones in March. Apple, on the other hand, accounted for 18% of the market with 17.41 million iPhone sales. This comeback is largely attributed to features like the Galaxy S24 series and artificial intelligence features like Galaxy AI.
The Galaxy S24 series, released in January, offers features such as real-time language translation during phone calls and “Circle to Search,” which allows users to quickly search with Google during phone conversations. It was reported that the series sold 6.53 million units by the end of March.
Samsung’s dominance in Europe is particularly noteworthy. According to the report, the company captured 34% of the smartphone market in Europe. In the US, Samsung increased its market share from 20% in January to 36% in March.
Apple became the world’s top-selling smartphone manufacturer for the first time last year. The tech giant had sold over 229 million iPhones worldwide, surpassing Samsung’s 225 million sales. However, the company’s leadership position ended this year.
The competition in the smartphone market is expected to intensify further with artificial intelligence. It is said that the company will introduce productive AI-supported features with the iOS 18 update.
