After completing the One UI 7 (Android 15) update, Samsung will shift its full focus to One UI 8. The Android 16-based operating system version is expected to bring significant improvements for many Galaxy smartphones and tablets. So, which models will get the beta update? Which countries will participate in the testing? Here’s everything known so far!
Everything we know about the One UI 8 update
Samsung is reportedly planning an unusual change in its update schedule with One UI 8. Normally, major One UI updates are released in the last quarter of the year, but this time they might arrive during the summer months. This could indicate Samsung’s intention to better align its updates with Google’s schedule.

The beta update could be released anytime soon, as Samsung has already started activating official One UI 8 beta program pages and banners in its community forums and Samsung Members app for several countries.
It is expected that the One UI 8 beta will initially be limited to the flagship Galaxy S25 series. Based on Samsung’s previous moves, especially during the One UI 7 beta phase, the first devices to receive the One UI 8 beta will likely be:
- Galaxy S25
- Galaxy S25 Plus
- Galaxy S25 Ultra
These flagship models are almost certain to be the first to get the One UI 8 beta. In fact, reliable sources detected the first One UI 8 beta build (with the number “S938BXXU3ZYEA”) for the Galaxy S25 series on Samsung’s servers earlier this month.
Like with One UI 7, Samsung may later expand the One UI 8 beta program to older devices such as the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6. However, this process could take a few months. For example, the One UI 7 beta was initially released only for the Galaxy S24 series in December 2024 and didn’t reach foldables, some Galaxy tablets, and certain Galaxy A series phones until March 2025.
So while it’s possible and likely that older Samsung phones and tablets will join the One UI 8 beta program, it’s wise to keep expectations moderate for now.
Which Countries Will Get the One UI 8 Beta First?
Samsung’s community forums and Members app have started showing signs of the One UI 8 beta program for these countries:
- United States
- South Korea
- Germany
- United Kingdom
- India
- Poland
These regions are usually among the first waves in One UI beta releases. Samsung has strong beta user communities in these countries, providing valuable feedback for the new software.
