CarPlay 2.0, Apple’s next-generation in-car entertainment system, comes with important innovations in its design. CarPlay 2.0, which attracts attention with widget support and an easy-to-use interface, will offer an experience similar to the interface of iPhone, iPad and Mac devices. Details in our news…
Apple CarPlay 2.0 comes with many widget support
In the new CarPlay 2.0 version, while the quick application selection bar on the left side is preserved, the widgets added to the system are a major innovation. Thanks to the widgets, users will be able to easily access the information they need while driving. The following widgets in particular stand out in the application:
- Clock widget: Shows time zones in certain cities.
- Weather widget: Provides current weather forecasts.
- Calendar and reminder widget: Reminds you of upcoming events and tasks.
- Combined widget: Combines navigation and media playback information.
- Media playback widget: Provides playback information with details such as album art and song progress bar.
CarPlay 2.0 will reportedly increase reliability by bringing the experience users are used to on their smartphones to the car screen. In other words, users will not feel unfamiliar when using the app and will be able to easily access functions without being distracted by in-car controls.
The exact launch date for CarPlay 2.0 has not yet been announced. However, Apple’s next generation of CarPlay-supported vehicles will be released in 2024. For the time being, Apple prefers to offer a more advanced generation instead of improving the current CarPlay version. This has raised the question among users, “Why is CarPlay being developed with a completely new version instead of the current version?”
