FromSoftware’s highly anticipated mystery project, The Duskbloods, has undergone a much longer and more extensive playtesting process than any other in the studio’s history.
The Duskbloods game will feature unique mechanics
Content creator Ziostorm shared important information in a report based on reliable Chinese journalist Giwin. The source, who previously leaked accurate information about Elden Ring bosses, states that the project was approved before 2019. The game has undergone the longest prototyping and validation phase in the studio’s history.

According to the leaked information, the game will be a PvPvE game, but it won’t resemble classic Battle Royale or extraction games. Instead, it will feature innovative elements such as contracts, a nemesis system, and multiple win conditions. The development team is particularly proud of these new mechanics.
Director Hidetaka Miyazaki stated that the project initially began with a small team for the original Switch. However, the process was shifted to Switch 2 hardware. This transition may have extended the testing period by expanding the gameplay possibilities.
The game is slated for a 2026 release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. The official announcement is expected after the Night Reign DLC cycle concludes, likely at The Game Awards.
