Jaecoo, a sub-brand of Chinese company Chery, has launched its first all-electric SUV, the Jaecoo E5, in the UK. Starting at £27,505, the model stands out with its affordability and range of nearly 400 kilometers. Positioned in the electric compact SUV segment, the E5 competes directly with models such as the Peugeot e-2008 and Kia EV3.
The Electric Jaecoo E5 Arrives in Europe
The Jaecoo E5 features a 61.1 kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery pack. The 152 kW (204 hp) electric motor, located on the vehicle’s front axle, can deliver a range of approximately 399 kilometers on a single charge. The model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds and can be charged from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 27 minutes, thanks to fast charging support up to 80 kW.

While the E5 was primarily designed for urban use, its 20-degree approach and 30-degree departure angles make it suitable for light off-road use. Technologies such as the 540-degree panoramic camera system, vehicle-to-device power transfer (V2L), and “Pet Mode,” standard on all trim levels, provide practicality for both daily use and outdoor activities.
The interior features a large, vertically positioned 12.3-inch touchscreen. Nearly all vehicle functions are controlled from this screen. The living area, which minimizes physical buttons, offers over 35 storage spaces. Luggage capacity is 480 liters as standard, expanding to 1,180 liters with the rear seats folded.
The Jaecoo E5, available in two trim levels, features the entry-level “Pure” package, which includes 19 driver assistance systems, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker Sony sound system, manually adjustable front seats, and adaptive cruise control.
This version is available with a price tag of £27,505. The £30,505 “Luxury” package includes a panoramic glass roof, a wireless charging unit, heated and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, and an eight-speaker Sony sound system.
The Jaecoo E5, which has entered the European market alongside the UK, is particularly notable for its price/performance ratio and the variety of equipment it offers in the entry-level segment, demonstrating the brand’s strong entry into the European electric competition.
