Spartacus: House of Ashur trailer released
The released trailer maintains the familiar aesthetic and atmosphere of the original Spartacus series, while adopting a darker, more political tone focused on Ashur’s rise. Scenes where the balance of power is re-established and intrigues are prominent at the gladiator school suggest that the series will be distinguished not only by action but also by its dramatic nature.
The series takes place in an alternate reality where Ashur did not die at the end of Spartacus. According to the trailer, Ashur, who helped the Roman Empire kill Spartacus, receives the gladiator school of his former master, Batiatus, as a reward. The story centers on the events that unfold at this gladiator school, which comes under Ashur’s control.
Spartacus: House of Ashur is being developed by Steven S. DeKnight, creator of the original series. After Spartacus, DeKnight gained attention with Netflix’s Daredevil series. With House of Ashur, DeKnight returns to the Spartacus universe.
Nick Tarabay once again stars as Ashur in the series. The cast also includes Graham McTavish, Tenika Davis, Jamaica Vaughan, Ivana Baquero, Claudia Black, Jordi Webber, India Shaw-Smith, and Leigh Gill.
The series, which has yet to be confirmed, will premiere on Starz before the end of the year. The Turkish streaming platform is currently unknown.
